Desert Trip itinerary
day 1: Marrakech - high atlas - ouarzazate - draa valley - zagora - camel trek & sunset: (350 Km)
We’ll pick you up from your accommodation Hotel/Riad in Marrakech at 8 am, and we’ll be driving through the High Atlas mountains and ‘Tizi N’tichka’ pass, which is the highest road pass in Morocco at 2260m altitude, where you’ll fresh up and enjoy various panoramic views over the mountains. After that, arrival into Ouarzazate, named as The African Hollywood, because of the international movies made at the whole province. there you’ll be visiting the local Atlas Studios of cinema and the historical Taourirte Kasbah; ( an old palace owned by a wealthy Pacha decades ago, located at the center city of Ouarzazate).
After lunch, the journey of the 2 days desert trip Marrakech to Zagora will be continued via the magical Anti Atlas mountains, crossing the Draa valley and driving along many Berber villages and the official route used by the commercial caravans coming from Timbuktu centuries ago.
At the evening we’ll arrive to the Zagora desert, where you’ll have about one hour of camel ride while you enjoying the show of the sunset till you arrive to the camp. you’ll have your own private tent, the tents are well equipped with mattresses, blankets, cushions, shower and also toilets. You’ll be served a delicious Moroccan dinner, then you will gather around the fire to admire a typical Berber music performed using drums under the magical starry sky.
day 2: camel trek & sunrise - Zagora - Kasbah Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas - Marrakech: (370 Km)
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the view of the sunrise the small dunes of the Zagora desert sand dunes. After freshening up and have your breakfast, ride the camels back and take the vehicle, then we’ll leave to famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou; it is one of the 9 sites in Morocco that UNESCO declared World Heritage.
Ksar or Kasbah ait benhaddou is a tribal, a traditional pre-Saharan Moroccan concept, consisting of a group of buildings built in the years of 1600 (17th century), with organic materials including a rich red mud, enclosed in high walls where some families are still live until today. Kasbah Ait Benhaddou was built on a hill in order to dominate the valley along the banks of the Ounila River at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains, 30 kilometers far from the province of Ouarzazate, and it is featured many international movies such as: Gladiator, Lawrance of Arabia, Game of Thrones, Babel, The Mommy, and many other ones.
After lunch at the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, we’ll be crossing back and again the High Atlas mountains, enjoying the hidden landscapes of the Atlas. Arrival into Marrakech at the evening, drop you to your Accommodation/Hotel/Riad. End of our services.
